All AME Tradesmen, upon completion of their Apprenticeship and in order to gain their Licence are required to complete the Airworthiness Administration subject to complete their Licence.

The course is designed for persons working in aviation workshop, design and/or technical services environment and personnel who intend to take the Airworthiness Administration (AA) examination. It is meant to provide knowledge of the aviation legislation and regulation in the design/technical services environment.

Parts 42, 66, 145 and 147 of the CASR 1998 are now included into the AA Syllabus. Other topics in the AA syllabus include:

  • How to read the CASR – CAR 2C

  • Class I, II and III Aeronautical Products – CASR 21.321

  • Offence of strict liability – Criminal Code Section 6.1

  • Manual of Standards (MOS) Part 66

  • Manual of Standards (MOS) Part 147

  • Manual of Standards (MOS) Part 145

Topics may include

  • An understanding of the ‘general’ roles of CASA, EASA and ICAO, and the history, roles and relationships of each entity and the structure of current legislation that empowers CASA to conduct its role.

  • A general understanding of the following CAOs: Part 101 — Airworthiness Civil Aviation Orders, Part 103 — Equipment Standards, and Part 108 — Process Control and Specifications, and their relation to you as an aircraft maintainer.

  • Be aware that Regulations 1, 2, 2B, 3, 4, 5, 5A, 6 and 6A of the CAR 1988 should be included in your study package as they apply across all topics
